1st Amendment
The first amendment tells you the five basic freedoms you have as an american citizen. They are the freedom of speech, press, assembly, religion, and petition.
2nd Amendment
The second amendment protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms.
3rd Amendment
The third amendment states that soldiers can't be forced into peoples' homes. This happened often back when the british ruled the U.S.
4th Amendment
The fourth amendment protects people from having unreasonable searches of property. The police need a warrant to search your property.
5th Amendment
The fifth amendment protects the five rights of an accused criminal. These rights are no double jeopardy, a grand jury hearing, no self incrimination, must have due process, and must have an eminent domain.
6th Amendment
The sixth amendment protects the five rights in criminal trials.These are the right to a speedy trial, an impartial jury, to know the charges against you, hear and question witnesses against you, and an attorney to assist in defense.
7th Amendment
The seventh amendment says that you can sue if the defendant is charged for more than 20 dollars.
8th Amendment
The eighth amendment protects people from excessive bails or cruel or unusual punishment.
9th Amendment
The ninth amendment states that people have all rights even if they are not listed in the constitution.
10th Amendment
The tenth amendment says that rights not given to the
federal government, are given to the states and the people.
